"The church has a special work to do in educating and training its children that they may not.......be influenced by the world." Counsels to Parents, Teachers, and Students.

We are very excited about our Kindergarten class! This year we have 15 full-time students and one part-time student. Every day is a special day in K. Here is what some of them have to say about their first year in school:
  • "I like our school because it is run by our church." - Zachariah Sparks
  • "I like praying and doing homework everyday." - Abbey Collins
  • "I like my classroom and playing with my friends." - Edward Morfin
  • "I like going to PE because Grandpa is my teacher." - Peyton Krieter (Grandpa is Keith Vollmer)
Ms. Wallace really enjoys having a large class because it allows her to do other activities that require more students. Each of our students is a blessing to our school. For more information about Midland Adventist Academy please visit our website, midlandacademy.org.

At Midland, academics are a priority and that is reflected in our ACT scores. We just received a letter from ACT sharing with us the results of our last year seniors.  These scores are shown as a comparative to other Kansas High School students.  Some things to keep in mind:
  • All of our students take the ACT, not just our college bound students
  • All scores are included in the MAA report, including our low end scores
  • Our student composite score was 24.2.  The Kansas state score is 22.0, and the national average score 21.9

  English Math Reading Science Composite
Midland 24.5 23.8 24.0 23.3 24.2
State 21.4 21.7 22.3 21.9 22.0
SMSD*         23.1
National         21.9

We believe our students are more than prepared advanced educational opportunities at the college of their choice. God has a plan for each of our students and we want them to be prepared for God’s will for them.

  • We have new “Curb Appeal” as our parking lot underwent an “Extreme Makeover”. Thank you Midland Foundation!
  • Dorothy Pearson, previously teaching at Portland Adventist Academy, has returned to her home roots of Kansas to be our new high school English/Technology teacher.

After a very time intensive, self-examining accreditation process this school year, it is the recommendation of the visiting accrediting team that Midland Adventist Academy receive a six year, clear accreditation term. This is the highest recommendation that can be given to a school. The comment made by Lanny Hurlbert, chairperson of the visiting team, was “If not Midland, who?”

It is a mighty thing to know that we are setting the bar for educational excellence. We would like to say a special thank you to students, parents, board members, and constituents who participated in this accreditation process.  We are richly blessed by the support of our community. So what did the kids have to say after the recent Just Claim It conference? Here's a sampling:
  • We learned skills useful in Sabbath School and at school, like building trust and security within a small group - Melissa.
  • The services had fun songs and great sermons. My favorite part was ministry - Matt
  • I loved the skits and the preachers, they made me think. - Kyle
  • I felt God’s presence like I have never felt before. - Zach

At Midland Adventist Academy, Service to Others Matters - Help 4 Haiti

Midland Adventist Academy students and families spent two weeks raising money for the Haiti disaster. One anonymous donor agreed to make a $500 donation if we raised $500. Our students embraced the challenge and brought in over $1,100.00. The final amount of $1,600.00 will be sent to ADRA for Haiti disaster relief. We have been blessed by the generous hearts of so many of our students and their families. Service to other is a priority at Midland Adventist Academy.

Senior Students Come Out on Top– Because of his high PSAT scores, Christopher Fairchild received recognition as a Commended National Merit Scholar. This award will provide Chris with many college scholarship opportunities.

Three seniors, Shelby Seibold, Sara Whitson, and Robby Willer, attended the “Brain Games” at Southwestern Adventist University on Jan. 21-23. They competeted in Science and Mathematics against other academies in the North American Division. Our Midland students took first place in the science competition and second place in math. They were awarded a check for $750.00 to go towards our science and math departments.

Congratulations to our amazing seniors! Academics are important at Midland Adventist Academy and it shows.

September-January - Seven reasons why Adventist Education works...

Reason #7 - Seventh-Day Adventist Schools Are the Future of our Church

Studies over the past 20 years, including the Value Genesis Study, have determined the impact of Adventist education on life-long commitment to Adventism. According to these studies, students in the Adventist educational system showed more consistent positive relationships between Adventist education and many aspects of the Adventist Church such as denominational loyalty, denominational orthodoxy, relationship to the church, and intention to remain an Adventist. At Midland Adventist Academy, we believe in the future of our students and the future of our church.
