Athletics The late Coach John Wooden once said "Sports do not build character, they reveal it." That's one of the reason that Midland coaches do their best to teach players how to perform both on the field, and off the field. Midland fans and players are proud to be Mustangs, but are equally proud to be Midland.
Midland athletics provide the following opportunities for sports:
* The Mustangs baseball team is now an independent team and has been renamed the Monarchs. You can reach their website here.
The Trophy Case
There are dozens of trophies in the Midland trophy case located in the main lobby, and many of are of the first place variety. In case you're wondering just when we won what, check out our new Trophies web page. All the sports, all the years, all the trophies. Go Mustangs!
Midland Brings Home Basketball Gold and Silver!
Midland returned home from the 2010 MAU Basketball Tournament with some new hardware for the trophy case. The Lady Mustangs won their end of the tournament for the second straight year (and three years out of four), and the Mustangs guys brought home a second place silver.
In addition, Braden Frishman won first place in the Three-point contest, Zach Frishman took second, and Heather Naumann claimed first place on the Women's side. First team bids went to Kirbi Yelorda, Lindsey Maddux, Zach Frishman, and Kyle Breyer. Heather Naumann and Braden Frishman received second team nominations.
For more information and scores, check out our Tournament Page. Congrats to our award-winning students!
Did you say soccer?
While not officially sponsored by Midland Adventist Academy (they wear green, after all), the Mustangs soccer team features six current and one former Midland student. The team finished with a 10-0-1 record in the fall 2009, winning their outdoors division championship. They also won their indoor league in March 2010 by a score of 18-6, and were once again undefeated. For pictures and more information, click here.
This "Sabbath-keeping Soccer Team" was featured in an article in the Mid-America Outlook, written by Midland Adventist Academy student Collin Hoffman.
