Academy Lifeskills
Welcome to Midland's Lifeskills page.
This class will be taught by Mrs. Mary Murrill. Two distinct semesters are presented as follows.
Career Education: During Fall semester, students will learn how to succeed in the world of work by researching careers and developing an individual career plan. The class will explore how to find a job, which includes creating a resume, interviewing, beginning a new job, and workplace ethics and relationships.
Personal Finance/Economics: During Spring semester, students will develop and apply essential skills to managing personal resources and finances. Additional study will be given to the structure and functioning of the U.S. economy, how the decisions of individuals, business, and government relate to income, employment, poverty, inflation, and environmental pollution. Other economic systems such as socialism and communism will be surveyed. The curriculum provides a foundation in economic terms and theories for students who will be taking entry-level economics and business courses in college.
