EXPECTATIONS, GUIDELINES, ROUTINES AND PROCEDURES
Regular attendance without tardiness is important to a successful school year. Your child’s progress, both academically and socially, will be enhanced by daily participation. The school day is from 8:10 - 3:20pm. On Friday, the school hours are 8:10 – 1:30pm. Kindergarteners will usually be dismissed five (5) minutes early to avoid the mass exit.
If your child will be absent for any reason, please call the office between 8:00 and 8:30am and inform them of the absence.
We welcome the celebrating of birthdays at Midland. Usually the last half hour of the day will be set aside for this. Please help me by bringing something that won't be mess!!
Children should wear comfortable clothing in accordance with the school’s dress code (See School Handbook) For girls who wear skirts/dresses to school, please place shorts underneath.
Young children sometimes may have an accident that will require a change of clothes. Please send an extra change of clothes to remain in your child’s backpack in case they are needed.
P. E. CLASS
Students need to wear tennis shoes for P. E. class.
Please pack a snack for your child each day.
Kindergarten performance key:
Star - Independently achieves objectives and performs skills
Happy Face- Good job, almost independent
Check Mark- Progressing toward objectives and performing skills
Students will periodically have an activity to complete at home that will reinforce a lesson introduced in class. No matter what, the best homework activity is to READ, READ, READ with your child daily.
LUNCH – Microwave
Students in lower elementary (K –2) are not allowed to use the microwave. This is a safety and staffing issue. If you’d like for your child to have a warm meal, you may want to order from the hot lunch program. The Hot Lunch program always begins the day after the Labor Day break. Please send a spoon or fork with your child's lunch if it is needed.
REST/ OUIET TIME
There will be a rest time for 30 minutes every day about 1:30pm. The students are not required to sleep, but must rest and relax quietly during this time. Everyone is welcome to bring a small blanket for rest time.
