Lady Mustangs Win 2007 Union College Volleyball Tournament!

Union College, Lincoln, NE.  Oct. 27 - Midland's Lady Mustang volleyball team finished a perfect 5-0 to win the 2007 Union College Volleyball Tournament.  In front of a crowd largely filled with Mustang fans, the Lady Mustangs defeated College View on Saturday night 25-11, 25-18, 25-15 in the best-of-five championship match.

Earlier in the week, Midland defeated Maplewood Academy, Dakota Adventist Academy, Sunnydale Academy and Campion Academy. All matches in the preliminary rounds were won by Midland, 2-0. The closest any team came to beating Midland was a 25-20 victory over Campion in the first game of the best-of-three match. Midland then won the second game by a score of 25-12.

Behind the Mustangs, College View finished #2, Campion #3, Maplewood #4, Great Plains #5, Minnetonka #6, Sunnydale #7 and Dakota Academy #8. This was the first U.C. tournament for Maplewood, G.P.A., Minnetonka and Dakota.

Several Mustangs won All-Tournament Awards. Senior Alex Adams and Junior Breanna Fenton were named to the First Team; Senior Kayla Giffin was named to the Second Team.
