Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome students and thank you parents for the opportunity to be your child’s teacher this year! I look forward to another great school year teaching grades 5 & 6. With God’s help and your support I will do my best to make this year a success for everyone concerned. I am looking forward to getting to know each student and every parent. Come to school eager to learn and participate in making this a great year at Midland.

Please review the information contained in this handbook. It is my goal to have an open line of communication with each parent, keeping you apprised of your student’s academic progress. About every two weeks a Friday Folder will be sent home containing daily assignments and those corrected tests I do send home. The folder is to be emptied, signed, and returned promptly on Monday or the first school day following. I ask that the students hold on to all returned papers until the quarter ends in case there are questions about whether work was completed or recorded. Each student will also receive, most Friday mornings, an updated missing work printout along with a current grade report. Ask your child to show you the report. Parents can access that information online as well.

Student grades will be available through a new online grade book program called RenWeb. The program will be used both on the elementary and academy levels. It will take me some time to fully understand and set up the program. When ready, I will send home access codes so that parents can enroll.

Parent input is very important. If you cannot arrange an appointment to meet me at school, I can be reached via email at danperry10@gmail.com or at home (913) 631-0865. Please try to make calls before 9:30 pm. Parents, help me update my email list by contacting me via email. Please sign the student and parent portion of the slip at the end of this packet and return it to me.

There will be after-school time set aside Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 pm each week for tutoring or homework help. Students, parents, or the teacher can request that time be set aside for this.

I am looking forward to working together with you to uplift Jesus in all we do. I will pray for each of you, as I hope you will pray for me. May God richly bless this year and may His blessings be evident to all who cross our paths!

Sincerely,
Mr. Dan Perry
