Midland's Middle School team is ready for their next season of volleyball. The team finished 6-6 in 2010 after sending on six members of their undefeated team to Midland's varsity squad. This year promises to be a good one!

Midland @ Veritas and Christ Prep: The Lady Mustangs were competitive against both Veritas and Christ Prep in their away tri-match, but lost both matches to drop to 4-4. Veritas won in two 25-18 and 25-17 in the first match. Against Christ Prep, the Mustangs won the first game  convincingly, thanks to Krista nailing 18 serves (yes, you read that right) in a row for a 26-16 win. Sad to say, Christ Prep won the next two games 25-21 and 15-12 to with the match. (Record: 4-4)

Centerplace @ Midland: Improving their record to 4-2, Midland's Middle School volleyball team won two close games against the visiting Centerplace Golden Eagles. The first game was a 25-19 victory, but the second game was even closer. Midland pulled out the win 25-23 to take the game and the match. Looks like there will be some good talent moving on to varsity next year! (Record: 4-2)

KSD @ Midland: The Middle School Mustangs won their opening season match in fine fashion, defeating the visiting KSD Jackrabbits by a score of 2-0. The first game was a 14-point victory, as the girls won easily 25-11. The second game was a bit closer, but Midland took game, set, and match with a 25-17 win. (Record: 1-0)

Coach Biographies (2011)

Coach FentonSherl Fenton, Head Coach: Sherl returns to the Middle School Girls Volleyball team for her 6th year as head coach. She began playing volleyball in middle school (7th grade) and was soon hooked, playing on varsity teams throughout high school. She enjoys coaching, and says, "It is rewarding to watch the girls work hard to develop skills, and grow in their love for volleyball. They are not only improving their game skills, but they're learning to be team players, to do their best, and have fun; important, lifelong concepts they can use throughout their lives."

Coach ReszKim Resz, Assistant coach: This is Kim's fourth year assisting Coach Fenton with the Middle School Girls Volleyball team. She has always enjoyed watching and playing volleyball, but has learned so much working with Sherl and the team!
She believes that Midland has a very talented group of young ladies that make the game fun, and that every player has something to offer to the team. Kim says that her philosophy with all sports is that "it doesn’t matter whether we win or lose, as long as you put forth your best effort and use the abilities God has given us as a witness to demonstrate our love for Him."

Angie Helmer, Assistant coach: This is Angie's first year assisting Coach Fenton with the Middle School Girls Volleyball team.
