Home for Midland K-12
Midland Adventist Academy hosted a 2011 Believe No Matter What youth event during the January 13-15 weekend. The main speaker for the event was Pastor Matt Gamble from Vagabond International. He travels the world sharing the good news about Jesus Christ, and enjoys learning to connect young people with the gospel.
Music was provided by Pastor Greg Creek and a group of friends. He said afterwards, "Dr. Gamble did a great job. I enjoyed meeting some new people and I thought the music went well with it being three groups of people that came together!"
On Thursday afternoon, our high school students were involved in a community outreach project. They volunteered at three different locations: Harvesters, Metro Lutheran Ministry, and Hands to Heart, KC. Mrs. Hoffman, Pastor Gamble, and the high school staff joined the students on the project.
Later that evening, Pastor Gamble added the following quote to his website: "I have to say that after my first day here that I am immensely impressed with the student body...as they seemed quite dialed in. I was [also] impressed with the spirit of service that the students embodied as they jumped right in and accomplished an amazing amount of work in a very short period of time.
By Friday night about 150 young people from local churches, Ozark Academy, Wichita, and Union College arrived at Midland, and spent Friday night and Sabbath listening to Pastor Gamble speak on “Believing No Matter What”, his theme for the weekend. It was a spirit-filled time as our students heard about a Savior who is fighting the mighty battle of sin in their lives, and is longing to be in a love relationship with them.
Our weekend culminated with a gymnastics program performed by Ozark Academy. It is a powerful message to our youth that they are part of a church family that is committed to their spiritual growth and walk. Here is what a couple of our students had to say about the weekend:
“I really liked how Pastor Gamble got our attention with his message and made us want to listen.” Jewel Janke - freshman
“I appreciated the way Matthew Gamble was so real to us and just told it how it was.” Johnny Edwards - freshman
Schedule for the weekend:
