MAUC Basketball Tournament - 2012

This year's tournament was composed of eight men's and eight women's teams from Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Wisconsin.

In the first round of double-elimation games, the Mustangs guys advanced to the semi-finals with a hard-fought victory over hometown College View. The Mustangs pulled out the victory when a desparation three-pointer for College View fell short at the buzzer, preserving a 31-29 win for the boys in red.

Although the game ended around 11:30 pm, the Mustangs played Sunnydale on Sunday morning at 8:45 am, (nice scheduling, that) for a chance at the championship game on Sunday afternoon. Sad to say the Spartans claimed a 46-38 victory, ending Midland's season. The Lady Mustangs also played tough, but finished their season with a 21-15 loss to the Maplewood Huskies in the first round.

First-team awards for their tournament play went to Jewel Janke, Brett Trana, and Matt Atkinson, while second-team awards were given out to Sarai Rodriguez, Alisha Whitson, and Tanner Finnegan. You can refer to our dedicated page during tournament for the latest scores, game updates, and other info.

The 2012 tournament, hosted by Union College, featured eight men's and eight women's teams from the states of Colorado, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and Wisconsin. The round-robin tournament Wednesday through Friday determined the initial seeds (guys were 2nd in their bracket, girls were 3rd). The single-elimination tournament on Saturday night and Sunday resulted in Mile High taking home the men's title, and hometown College View scoring the women's trophy.
