Youth Congress Trip
Midland sent a large group of academy students to the Youth Congress in Denver, Colorado. The trip took place on April 19-22. The Youth Congress was sponsored by the Central States Conference, and took place in the Crown Plaza Hotel and Convention Center in Denver. It included workshops for students to attend, an amazing service race, recreation time (including a basketball tournament), general sessions with speakers like Pastor Eddie Hypolite, and much more.
Throughout the year Midland’s Spiritual Activities committee visited our constituent churches and presented the church service. The offering collected there was placed in a dedicated fund to help pay for some of the expenses of this trip. Because of this money, it only cost $50 to attend the Youth Congress. The rest of the expenses, excluding food and drink on the way to and from Denver, were covered by Spiritual Activities.

SA Spring Banquet
This year's spring SA banquet took place at Midland on April 1 with a petite dinner of appetizers, and a chance to talk up all your friends while the students ate and socialized. During Stage Two the high school students took a Hummer limo and a party bus to Zona Rosa for dessert at Yogurtini. The banquet took place from 6:00-9:30 pm.

Formal Winter Banquet
This year's SA Winter Banquet began with dinner at Milano's Italian restaurant at Crown Center. More than 60 students and invited guests then attended the American Heartland Theater's production of "The Marvelous Wonderettes" (also at Crown Center). Mr. Teller became part of the show when the Wonderettes brought him up on stage to play the part of their favorite teacher! So if you hear the students calling him "Mr. Lee" from now on, you'll know why.
Masquerade - SA Event
Midland's Student Association hosted the annual Fall Masquerade on Saturday night, October 29. The theme of the evening included blacklights and glowsticks - the photos in our related gallery (thanks, Camille!) will give you a good idea of what the results looked like! Looks like lots of Midland students accepted the invitation to Come and Glow in the Dark!
Midland's Student Association hosted a fall event on Saturday night, October 1st. The evening started with a vespers by Pastor Luke at 6:30 pm, followed by a game of girls vs guys volleyball.
After the volleyball games were over (the girls won all three, no surprise there), the students played other games, watched a movie, and enjoyed open gym time until 9:30 pm. The event was open to all high school students and non-Midland students as well. And before I forget, there was free food - how good is that? Thanks to the SA for providing a great program on a Saturday night. (move your mouse over the pictures to display the captions)
