Dear Midland Parents,
As many of you know I will not be returning next year as principal for Midland. This was not an easy decision however, my family and I have prayed about this for several months and believe it is the right one. It has been an honor to have worked with the staff at Midland Adventist Academy, the children, and parents over the past four years as principal, as together we have created an outstanding school spiritually and academically.
Over the last several weeks our Personnel Committee has worked diligently reviewing resumes and discussing possible candidates for the principal position. The search was narrowed down to two very qualified administrators. Both were flown in last week for formal interviews and the opportunity to spend some time on our campus. Although it was a difficult decision, after much prayer, the committee chose to invited Randy Bovee to fill the position of principal. On Monday Randy accepted the offer and we are looking forward to having him and his family join our Midland family. Currently Randy is serving as principal at Milo Academy in Oregon. He, his wife Carol, and their three children will be moving to the area this summer.
Also it is with some sadness that I share with you that our music teacher Naomi Bruette, will not be returning next school year. Naomi and her husband Rob were blessed just seven short weeks ago with baby Robby. Mr. Bruette finished his MBA and graduated last Friday. On that same day he was offered a job in Maryland and they will be moving from the area. We are sad that they are leaving, yet happy for the Bruettes as this move will allow Naomi to stay home with little Robby. God has continued to lead, and I am glad to announce that Mr. Steven Hutchinson has agreed to come to Midland as our new music teacher. Mr. Hutchinson will be a familiar face, as he directed the music program while Mrs. Bruette was on maternity leave.
Keith Vollmer, our high school social studies teacher, is retiring after 40.5 years at Midland and Jason Donovan, our high school science teacher resigned to consider a new career path. Both positions have already been filledl by David Smith for Social Studies and Jonathan Borne for Science. For information about the new teachers please visit our website, midlandacademy.org .
I am reminded of the text found in Jeremiah 29:11, For I know the plans I have for “Midland” declares the Lord…….plans to give you a hope and a future.” We serve a mighty God and He has a mighty plan and He is leading in a mighty way.
Each year the Student Association Spiritual Activities Committee selects a theme text for the year. This year it is Romans 8:31, "What shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who can ever be against us?" We have amazing students who have claimed this promise for this school year and it is a promise we each need to claim everyday.
I apologize for this lengthy message but I felt that I needed to share with you these changes and to assure you that I believe the next school year will be an exciting year of making new friends, exploring new ideas, and growing in new ways.
Please feel free to share with me any thoughts you might have regarding these changes to our school.
