Volleyball - Senior Recognition
The Lady Mustangs recognized their senior members during the Alumni volleyball game on Sunday morning. This is the largest group of seniors to play Midland volleyball since the program started 12 years ago with seven players. The parents of each senior were called forward to share the moment as Coach Courtad described the contributions the seniors have made during their time at Midland.
Congratulations to Camille Darrell, Addison Murray, Alexis Varndell, Kristi Tucker, Sarai Rodriguez, and Alicia Whitson! You can check out a photo gallery here.
UC Warriors Volleyball Clinic
Midland's Lady Mustangs varsity team was recently schooled by the women's volleyball team from Union College. Several of Union's current squad, as well as coaches Ric Spaulding and Ron Stump, spent August 1 & 2 with the team. The clinic not only gave our high school players some good training, but gave the Union staff an opportunity to get to know the girls in the various academies and do some scouting at the same time. We really appreciate the willingness of the Lady Warriors to come and do this clinic for the team. For pictures, check this gallery.
Notes from the Coach
Thoughts on the 2012 Season
Having lost our power hitter and a strong middle blocker last year, I was interested to see what girls would step up this season. We had several rise to the occasion. Overall, we are a better passing team than last year, And we're hitting the ball well. Most impressive, I would say though, has been our serving. We have done a good job this season serving aggressively, and hitting serving zones. Our opponents have struggled to serve receive our servers, and several coaches have commented on what a great serving team we are.
I am extremely proud of our team and everything we've accomplished this year. The girls are focused, dedicated, and willing to work hard in practice.
