Coach Sickler grew up in Alvarado, TX. He attended all eight years at Burleson Adventist School, and finished all four years at Chisholm Trail Academy in 2008. During his junior year of high school, Mr. Sickler began coaching Summer Hoops for Chisholm Trail Academy. He continues to coach CTA Summer Hoops after 11 years. During his senior year, Mr. Sickler became a ballkid for the Dallas Mavericks and coached for them a year later.
Mr. Sickler has substituted for multiple classes such as English, Religion, and Computer Applications (as well as P.E.) and was a Head Coach for junior varsity girls, winning third in state. He has also been a Special Needs-Paraprofessional teacher for a public school and has learned the importance of one-on-one connection with student athletes in an academic setting.
Based on his experiences in the classroom, Mr. Sickler developed a personalized program for individuals seeking assistance in character building. This program assisted in their physical ability in basketball as well as accountability, discipline, and always putting God first.
You'd be surprised to know that...
Mr. Sickler is ambidextrous. He also experienced a depressed skull fracture at age 15, and so played sports with a red boxing helmet from 8th grade to his sophomore year of high school.
Mr. Sickler is an only child.
