World Trade Center Survivor to Speak at Midland

Elias Lopez will be speaking for Midland's chapel period on Friday, September 10. He has a remarkable story to tell of how he escaped the World Trade Center attack and then returned to his hotel after assisting the wounded.  Mr. Lopez will share his story with the students at Midland, and then with the New Haven SDA Church on September 11th.  Mr. Lopez will also share his walk with Jesus Christ and what Christ has done with his life. Visitors are welcome to either event.

Life 101 - What's Your Storyline?

The Kansas/Nebraska Conference invites young women grades 9-12 to attend the annual Life 101 conference to be held at Broken Arrow Ranch. The dates for this year's seminar are September 10-12, and transportation will be provided from Midland. Former Midland teacher Darchelle Worley will be the featured speaker.

If you would like to attend, you can fill out (and then print) an application, or review a poster of the event. If you have questions, feel free to send Sue Carlson (Conference Women's Director) an email.

Midland's Crimson Cords

Over the past dozen years, there have been a number of Midland alumni who have spent time overseas as student missionaries. Over the coming months, we will be recognizing these students with a dedicated web page called the Crimson Cords (with a tip of the hat to Union College).

During this school year, Lauren Christensen (class of 2008) will be posting regular journal entries from her upcoming year in Peru. She will be traveling to villages along the Amazon jungle/river area to provide medical care and teaching. Check back on a regular basis to see how she is enjoying the experience!

Medical Center Recognizes Midland Students

Eight current or former Midland students recently received recognition for their outstanding workmanship at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Collin Hoffman, Cari (Hoffman) Wilson, Beckie Fairchild, Kirsten Dahl, Jennifer (Hallock) Rebarchek, Mary Jo Murphy, Megan Prosser and Bo Seltman were all recognized by co-workers in the "Thank You" section of the SMMC Stethascoop. Congratulations!

School Has Started (what, already?)

Welcome back to Midland for another school year! We hope you are as excited about coming back as we are excited to HAVE you back! Midland has lots of good things planned this year, make sure you're here every day to enjoy them.

Here's a gallery from our first week of the new year - be sure to check our Media page on a regular basis for more pictures.

Get Your Golf Cleats Ready...

The Second Annual Mustang Stampede has been rescheduled for Friday, October 8. Additionally, the event rally meeting scheduled for September 2 has also been postponed to a later date. We will send information soon regarding the Mustang Stampede Tournament location (we are in contract negotiations for a very exciting golf course) as well as information for a new Event Rally date.

See a Foundation board member (Cindy Christensen, Cary DeCamp, Trudy Hoffman, Russell Keller, Andy Jahn, Steve Trana, Stephen Tucker) or call (913) 907-9271 to help with this event. For full details, check out our website's Foundation tab.

ATTENTION: Chiefs fans and MAA fans!

Home and School has teamed up with the Kansas City Chiefs to raise money for Midland.

If you would enjoy working fan assistance at one or at all of the Chiefs home games this season, the Kansas City Chiefs will pay Midland for your time! There is no better way to give back… go to all the Chiefs games for free and raise money for our school - the more volunteers, the more we raise.

Check out the Home & School page for more information!
